A matched pair of English made 12-gauge sidelock ejector game guns. The guns are fitted with new blacked, round 28" dovetail lump nitro proof barrels from 1976 which are nicely fitted with ejectors, 2-3/4" chambers, tapered, smooth and concave game ribs with steel front beads. Both guns are choked Improved Cylinder and Improved Cylinder. The ribs are engraved 'BOSS & CO 13/14, CORK STREET, LONDON. W.1.' Ribs near the breeches with gold-inlaid '1' and '2' engraved. The case color hardened finished action bodies are adorned with rose bouquets and fine English Arabesque scrolls. The lockplates are engraved "BOSS & CO" in banners. The trigger plates are engraved 'BOSS'S PATENT NO 11278'. Blacked engraved top levers with gold-inlaid '1' and '2', left sides of the thumb pieces checkered and "SAFE" gold-inlaid on top tangs ahead of engraved and checkered slide safeties. The actions are fitted with Boss's patented single triple pull triggers which are protected by blacked, engraved, right side rolled edge trigger guards, gold-lined cocking indicators and automatic safeties. Best quality walnut stocks with checkered English straight hand grips, drop points and vacant stock ovals. The straight hand grips are supported by long engraved bottom straps with serial numbers. Splinter fore-ends with matching checkering and Anson style push button releases. The fore-end escutcheons are similarly engraved with gold-inlaid '1' & '2'. 14-5/8" LOP's to 1/2" leather covered recoil pads. The guns reside in the maker's double leather toe-under case with canvas cover.
