A matched pair of 12 gauge sidelock ejector game guns with an extra barrel set. Both guns of the pair have blacked round 28" chopper lump nitro proved steel barrels with 2-3/4" chambers, choked Improved Cylinder and Modified and a tapered, smooth, concave game ribs with a steel front beads. The rib reads "J PURDEY & SONS. AUDELY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON." Ribs near the breeches with "1","2" and "1*" in gold. The extra barrel set is also 28" but choked Modified and Full. The coin finished action bodies are adorned with game scenes supported by Acanthus leaves with depth on stippled ground. The number one gun's game scenes are: Right Lock - 2 Pheasants running in a field; Left Lock - 2 Mallards in flight in a wetlands scene and the bottom of the action body has a dog standing. The number two gun's game scenes are: Right Lock - 3 partridges walking in a field; Left Lock - 2 grouse in a field with one in flight and the bottom of the action body has a dog standing. The bottoms of the lockplates are engraved "J. PURDEY & SONS. LONDON". The fences are carved with Acanthus leaves on stippled ground. Ahead of the trigger guards the engraver signed with the initials "S.J.K.". Scroll engraved top levers with "1" and "2" in gold inside an oval with both sides of the thumb pieces checkered and "SAFE" gold inlay on top tangs ahead of engraved and checkered slide safties. The actions are fit with smooth single mechanical trigger protected by engraved trigger guards, cocking indicators, disc-set strikers and automatic safties. Well figured deluxe walnut stocks with checkered English straight hand grips, drop points and the initials "RJD" inlaid in gold on toe line. The straight hand grips are supported by long engraved bottom straps with serial numbers. Splinter forends with matching checkering and Anson style push button releases. The exterior steel of forends are similarly engraved. Forend tips with "1" & "2" in gold inside an oval. 15-1/4" LOP's to a checkered butts. Guns and extra barrel reside in the makers leather motor case with canvas cover.
