Bolt rifle chambered for the .416 Rigby cartridge by John Rigby & Co. It has a blacked, round 24” barrel fitted with a matte serrated rear island base with an unmarked standing sight, ramped and hooded tipped blade front sight and a barrel band front stud for sling. The Mauser single square bridge action is fitted with a flag/wing safety, smooth single trigger, straddle floor plate. Left side of the receiver is roll marked "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER-OBENDORF A/N". The top of the barrel shank is engraved "RIGBY'S SPECIAL .416 BORE FOR BIG GAME". The right side of the barrel is stamped with London Proof marks. The top of the barrel is gold-inlaid "J. Rigby & Co, London, England." In Old English Script. Nicely figured deluxe quality reddish-brown walnut stock with pistol grip, blacked steel grip cap, reinforcing crossbolt, point pattern checkering with borders (forearm wrap-around), vacant stock oval, stud for sling swivel on the toe line of buttstock, 7/8" Pachmayr "Old English" rubber recoil pad,14-3/4" LOP, 9 Lbs. - 8 Oz. Rifle resides in the makers full length canvas case with brass corners.
