German double rifle chambered for the .30-06 cartridge. The 21-5/8” (55 cm) blued rifled shoe-lump steel barrels with German nitro proofs are fit with ejectors, rib extension, full length rib with unmarked standing rear sight, orange plastic blade front sight and swivel for sling. The rifle is fit with a Leopold VARI-X III 1.75-6 x 32 scope mounted on a one piece base with rings. Right barrel is marked "141.1 .30-06" while the left barrel is marked "GSI Inc. T'ville AL // GEBR. MERKEL SUHL // MADE IN GERMANY" The coin finished action with blued furniture is engraved with English Arabesque scrolls. The bottom of the action body has the Merkel logo. The left side of the action body is signed "K. Knoth" for master engraver Karola Knoth. The scalloped back boxlock action is fit with a Greener crossbolt fastener, disc set strikers, single trigger with a smooth blued blade that is protected by an engraved trigger guard and an automatic safety. Engraved top strap has "S" ahead of the scored slide safety. Best quality walnut stock with checkered pistol hand grip fit with a grip cap, pancake cheekpiece and swivel for sling. Checkered splinter forend with Deeley style engraved lever release. 14-5/16” LOP to a factory buttplate that is scored and marked "Gebr. Merkel Suhl, 8 Lbs. with scope.
