English made matched pair of sidelock ejector 20-gauge game guns with 26-inch blacked round nitro-proved chopper lump barrels that are fit with ejectors, matte narrow tapered solid Churchill ribs and steel bead front sights. Proved for 3-inch cartridges and choked modified & modified. Tops of the left barrels are roll marked "J. PURDEY & SONS" while the tops of the right barrels are roll marked "AUDLEY HOUSE, SOUTH AUDLEY STREET, LONDON. ENGLAND." Ribs near the breeches are gold-inlaid "1" and "2" respectively. The case-color hardened finish action bodies are adorned with acanthus leaf pattern engraving and feature fire blued cocking indicators, cross-pin covers, top lever spindle screw covers and slide safeties. The lockplates are gold-inlaid "J. Purdey & Sons / London" in Old English Script. The bottoms of the action bodies are engraved "J. PURDEY & SONS / LONDON, ENGLAND" in banners and gold-inlaid "SAFE" on top tangs ahead of the engraved and checkered slide safeties. Gold-inlaid "1" & "2" respectively on the top levers, fore-end escutcheons, and the barrel ribs near breeches. The sidelock actions are fitted with the Beesley assisted-opening mechanism, disc set strikers, raised rib tumbler cocking indicators, blacked and engraved top levers with the left sides checkered and automatic safeties. The single mechanical triggers are protected by blacked and engraved trigger guards ending in long bottom straps with serial numbers. Reddish-brown extra finish quality walnut stocks with highly figured dark smokey marbling, pistol grips, pistol grips have wrap-around fine point pattern checkering with borders, ebonite grip caps and drop points. Semi-Beavertail fore-ends with matching checkering, Anson type push button releases with engraved escutcheons. 14-inch LOP's to checkered butts. The shotguns are presented in the maker's double leather motor case.
