An antique lever action repeating rifle with full length forearm and single barrel band. The Third Model has the dust cover guide rail integrally machined on the frame and dust cover has serrated finger guides. The 22 inch round steel barrel is chambered for the .45-75 Winchester cartridge and is built with a folding ladder rear sight marked "1876" with retaing screw and a barleycorn front sight. Top of the barrel is marked "WINCHESTER'S-REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT. / KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29. 1866, OCTOBER 16.1860". Brass cartridge carrier block, the lower tang has the rifle's serial number "37093" between the lever latch and tang screw while the top tang is marked "MODEL 1876". Saddle ring on left side of frame. The smooth walnut stock has a 12-7/8" length of pull to a steel carbine butt plate.
