English made sidelock ejector 12 gauge game gun with 27" blacked round nitro proved chopper lump barrels that are fit with ejectors, a tapered smooth concave game rib and a steel bead front sight. Proved for 2-5/8" cartridges and choked skeet & improved cylinder. The rib is roll marked'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON.' & 'MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESS STEEL'. The patina case color hardened finished action body and lockplates are adorned with traditional rose bouquets and fine English Arabesque scroll engraving. Both lockplates are engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS'. The bottom of the action body is engraved'J. PURDEY & SONS LONDON'. Gold-Inlaid '1' on top lever, rib near breech, and fore-end escutcheon. The sidelock action is fit with the Beesley assisted-opening mechanism, disc set strikers, gas escapes, cocking indicators, a blacked engraved top lever with both sides of the thumbpiece checkered and non-automatic safety with gold-inlaid "SAFE" ahead of the checkered and engraved fire-blued safety slide. The double triggers are protected by a blacked and engraved trigger guard ending in a long bottom strap with serial number.
