English made sidelock ejector 12 gauge game gun with 29" blacked round nitro proved barrels that are fit with ejectors, a tapered smooth concave game rib and a steel bead front sight. Proved for 2-1/2" cartridges and choked improved cylinder & improved modified. The rib is roll marked 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON.' & 'MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESS STEEL'. The patina case color hardened finished action body and lockplates are adorned with traditional bouquets and scroll engraving. Both lockplates are engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS'. The number '2' upon the top lever, rib near breech and interior metal of fore-end. The sidelock action is fit with the Beesley assisted-opening mechanism, disc set strikers, gas escapes, cocking indicators, a blacked engraved top lever with the both sides of the thumbpiece checkered and automatic safety with gold-inlaid "SAFE" ahead of the checkered and engraved safety slide. The double triggers with the front being hinged are protected by an engraved trigger guard ending in a long bottom strap with serial number. Best quality walnut stock with straight hand grip, drop points, vacant stock oval and splinter fore-end with Anson type push button release. 14" LOP to a checkered hard rubber buttplate, 6 Lbs. - 6 Oz. Gun resides in the maker's single leather case.
