12-gauge boxlock game gun with 28" blacked steel round nitro proved barrels that are fitted with ejectors, tapered smooth concave game rib with C doll's head extension and a steel bead front sight. The rib is roll-marked: "WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO LONDON." and inside a banner "THE HERONSHAW. Proved for 2-1/2" cartridges and choked improved cylinder & full. The faded (more in protected areas) case color hardened action body that is adorned with partial coverage classic Westley Richards scroll. Both sides of the action body are engraved "WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO.". The action is fitted with a blacked and engraved top lever with the left side of the thumbpiece checkered and an automatic safety with gold-inlaid "SAFE" ahead of the scored and engraved beetle back safety slide. The double triggers are protected by a blacked, engraved trigger guard ending in a partial coverage scroll engraved bottom strap with serial number. Best quality walnut stock with straight hand grip, fine point pattern English flat top checkering with borders, engraved stock shield (OCT. 1943 // W A Noakes in Script), and similarly checkered splinter fore-end with engraved Deeley style lever release and horn tip. 14-3/4" LOP to a 3/4" orange Silver's style rubber recoil pad, 6 Lbs. - 11 Oz. The shotgun resides in an associated single leather case.
