This antique 12-bore sidelock hammer game gun is built on Walker's Patent #445 of 12th February 1872 consisting of a single perpendicular bite for barrel bolting utilizing an oscillating top lever and safety for drop down actions. The action flat is marked with the patent use number of 629. It features barrels that were re-proved with nitro proofing and 2-3/4" chambers by the London Proof House in 2008. The 30-inch shoe-lump browned Damascus steel barrels are fitted with an extractor, a tapered smooth concave game rib that is fitted with a brass bead front sight and choked improved cylinder and skeet. The rib bears the roll mark "THEOPS MURCOTT. 68. HAYMARKET LONDON. N 3875". The coin finished non-rebounding hammer action body and locks are adorned by fine English Arabesque scrolls, an oval game scene vignette of 2-pheasants (1 standing & 1 flying) on bottom of the action body, while the trigger guard presents a game scene of dog flushing a pheasant. The shotgun is equipped with double triggers with smooth blades protected by an engraved trigger guard that extends to a long bottom tang. The top lever is engraved and is marked “WALKER'S PATENT” and is checkered on both sides of the thumb piece. The stock is constructed from finely figured, best quality rich and dark walnut with a straight hand grip, drop points, point-pattern checkering with borders, vacant stock shield, and a splinter fore-end with horn tip, wrap-around checkering and cross-pin fastener, The stock has a 14-1/8-inch length of pull to a checkered butt with engraved steel heel and toe plates, Weight: 6 lbs. 13 oz.
