English made sidelock ejector 20-gauge game gun with 26" blacked round nitro proved chopper lump barrels that are fit with ejectors, a matte narrow tapered solid Churchill rib and a steel bead front sight. Proved for 2-3/4" cartridges and choked improved cylinder & improved modified. The left barrel is roll marked "J. PURDEY & SONS." while the right barrel is roll marked "AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. ENGLAND'. The case color hardened finished action body and lockplates are adorned with traditional rose bouquets and fine English Arabesque scroll engraving. Both lockplates are engraved "J. PURDEY & SONS.". The bottom of the action body is engraved "J. PURDEY & SONS LONDON ENGLAND". The sidelock action is fitted with the Beesley assisted-opening mechanism, disc set strikers, cocking indicators, a blacked engraved top lever with both sides of the thumbpiece checkered and automatic safety with gold-inlaid "SAFE" ahead of the checkered and engraved safety slide. The single mechanical trigger is protected by a blacked and engraved trigger guard ending in a long bottom strap with serial number. Best quality walnut stock with straight hand grip, drop points, vacant stock oval and splinter fore-end with Anson type push button release with an engraved escutcheon. 14-3/8" LOP to a checkered butt, 5 Lbs. - 15 Oz. Gun resides in the maker's single leather toe-under case.
