20-gauge boxlock game gun with 28" blacked round nitro proved barrels that are fitted with extractors, a tapered smooth concave game rib with extension, and a brass bead front sight. The rib is roll-marked "W, R, PAPE, NEW - UPON - TYNE. WINNER OF THE LONDON GUN TRIALS IN, 1858.1859.1866 & 1875". Proved for 2-1/2" cartridges and choked cylinder & full. The trace case color hardened finished action body with faded blacked cover plate is adorned with light coverage English Arabesque scrolls. Both sides of the action body are engraved "W.R. PAPE". The action is fitted with double triggers, disc-set strikers, blacked and lightly engraved top lever with the left side of the thumbpiece checkered and automatic safety with "SAFE" ahead of the checkered safety slide. Best quality walnut stock with straight hand grip, flat English checkering, vacant stock oval and similarly checkered splinter fore-end with Anson style push-button release and engraved escutcheon. 14-5/16" LOP to a scored butt, 5 Lbs. - 4 Oz.
