English made sidelock ejector 12 gauge game gun with 29" blacked round nitro proved barrels that are fit with ejectors, a tapered smooth concave game rib with extension and a steel bead front sight. Proved for 2-1/2" cartridges and choked improved cylinder & modified. The rib is roll marked: 'WILLIAM POWELL & SON. 55 CARRS LANE. BIRMINGHAM'. The patina case color hardened finished action body and lockplates are adorned with traditional rose bouquets and scroll engraving and beaded fences. Both lockplates are engraved 'WILLIAM POWELL & SON in banners. Gold-inlaid '2' on top lever, barrel rib near breech and fore-end tip. The action is fit with a doll's head third fastener, blacked engraved top lever with the left side of the thumbpiece checkered and automatic safety with gold-inlaid "SAFE" ahead of the checkered and engraved safety slide. The double triggers are protected by an engraved trigger guard ending in a bottom strap with serial number. Best quality walnut stock with straight hand grip, drop points, engraved stock oval and splinter fore-end with Anson type push button release. 14-3/4" LOP to a 1/4" checkered wooden butt extension, 6 Lbs. - 9 Oz. Gun resides in the maker's single leather case with brass corners.
