English made sidelock ejector 12 gauge game gun with 30" blacked round nitro proved chopper lump barrels that are fit with ejectors, a tapered smooth concave game rib and a steel bead front sight. Proved for 2-1/2" cartridges and choked improved cylinder & improved modified. The rib is roll marked 'J. PURDEY & SONS'. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON.'. The patina case color hardened finished action body and lockplates are adorned with traditional bouquets and fine English Arabesque scroll engraving and carved leaves on the fences. Both lockplates are engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS'. The bottom of the action body is engraved 'PURDEY'S PATENT'. The sidelock action is fit with the Beesley assisted-opening mechanism, disc set strikers, gas escapes, cocking indicators, a blacked engraved top lever with the left side of the thumbpiece checkered and automatic safety with gold-inlaid "SAFE" ahead of the checkered and engraved safety slide. The double triggers are protected by a blacked and engraved trigger guard ending in a long bottom strap with serial number. Best quality walnut stock with straight hand grip, drop points, engraved stock oval and splinter fore-end with Anson type push button release. 15-1/8" LOP to a 1-1/4" leather covered recoil pad, 6 Lbs. - 15 Oz. Gun resides in the maker's single oak & leather case.
